wonky stars

.          This is what I've been working on, wonky stars. I took a class
to learn the process on how they are made and now
they are done I don't think I will make them again.
My grandson calls them "sea stars".
Now that the blocks are together I need to figure
out my boarders. Any ideas??
I'm not even sure what I'm going to do
with it after it's quilted.

Resting and contemplating.

Have a great day everyone and keep smiling,
Robin

This is block 4 of  my newest BOM
This one started in April.
This BOM is called Catalina and this block is Girabaldi.
I love this line of fabric.

This is block 3 Smugglers Cove

Block 2 Bird of Paradise

Block 1 Avalon.
I've been pretty good on this one finishing each block within a
week of picking it up from the quilt shop.

This is what I saw when I went out to check
the garden and do a little watering before it
gets to hot. My favorite flowers my pink lilys.

Have a great day everyone and keep on smiling

5 &3/4

Still working on my shop hop blocks. I've
just finished up with 5 3/4 more I say
3/4 because some how I didn't have enough
fabric to finish a block (bottom left)  I either cut
wrong or was given wrong amount (most
likely I measured wrong). So now I'm off
to the quilt shop for 1 fat quarter, yes
only 1(we will see).

Happy Canada day
to all my Canadian friends.

Have a sew happy day everyone.

western Washington shop hop 2015

The western washington shop hop
is now over and this is the quilt.
I wasn't able to go to all the shops but I did hit
17 and that was enough to get my passport entered
in a draw for some cool prizes.
I started sewing the blocks together and now have 4 done
and working on #5. Since it is so hot here that is what I will
be working on today.
I was also able to collect some of the row by row's kit's that
I really liked. I also collected the free patterns for the ones that
I wasn't sure if I would sew or not.

It's been a while since posting but I'm still here :) .
I'm back in Washington and hope to stay here for a long time.

Hope everyone has a great Monday and I hope to post more now that I'm home.

View out the window

This was the view out of the living room window this morning
at 7 am Arizona time. Isn't the sunrise beautiful and it's only suppose
to get to 82* today.

This was the view looking the opposite direction a few days ago.
It felt like you could reach out and touch the balloon it was
so pretty.  My grandson thought it was just the coolest, he wanted
to find more but it was the only one we could see.  I was able to find
a fabric panel at a quilt shop with hot air balloons so will be making something
from it as a memento of the time I have been in Arizona.

Nothing much is going on here right now, we are planning and making
party decorations for my grandsons 5th birthday. He wants a
construction theme for his party, not as easy as it sounds.

Have a good day and keep smiling,

Robin

front meet back

This is a quilt top made from a kit that my sweet husband gave me last year
for Mother's Day.  I love everything about this top but I was having a hard time
finding the right fabric for the backing. I didn't want the same fabric from the front,
I wanted something that felt beachy. I was looking for a tan batik but couldn't find
the right one; when last weekend my daughter and I were at the quilt shop here in
Phoenix and she saw this fabric and its perfect, It is sea shells with beach glass and the
colors are great, the back ground color is a little more on the white side than in the photo.
This will be my first project to send off to the quilter when I get home.
I will be binding it with the dark blue I used for the sashing.

Have fun in your sewing room and
keep smiling.

I'm just about ready for the
elephant parade qal
Here are my colors but I still need to find just
the right color of off white back ground fabric. The
one I found at the quilt shop the other day was perfect
but there was only 3/4 of a yard and I need 2 yds.
So I will continue to search for one I like, I.m thinking of
a tone on tone off white.
If you would like to join in on the fun the first part will be released
on Feb 1st. Just click on the button on my side bar for more info.

Have a good day everyone,
keep smiling and make everyone wonder
what you are up to now!  LOL

Hello Everyone.
I know it has been a long time since I have posted.
I haven't really done anything to post about.
I went home for two weeks at Christmas and had a nice time
with my husband. I'm now back in Arizona with my daughter
and grandson. It's been months since I have felt like stitching or sewing.
I have however started a new quilt for a friend that's going through a
tough time and I feel she needs a quilt hug as reminder that she is loved.

Just need to add the side boarders and send it to the long arm quilter.

I think part of why I have no desire to stitch or quilt is that I don't have
my own stuff here. I have a sewing machine but I have to set it up in the dinning room.
I don't have my fabric stash so anytime I want to do something I have to go
purchase what I want/need and that's no fun. Sometimes you just want to pull some
scraps from your scrap basket and make something.
I've wanted to join a couple of blog hops and BOM but I just don't think
I will be able to get them done with my traveling from Washington to Arizona.
I'm going home for good at the end of March so I hope to have a more
productive 2nd quarter of the year.

Keep smiling and thank you for stopping by.

3 color quilt

Looking for help.
I'm wanting to make a quilt for a friend
in need, she's needing a quilt hug.  Her favorite
colors are purple, brown and turquoise.
(And butterflies)
I can add more colors if need be but what I'm
stumped on is a quilt pattern. It also needs
to be something that I can put together
in a short time.

Any help would be great.

Thank you

Disney 2014

I think I have my photo loading issue semi fixed.
If I use chrome I can load photos and make a blog post.
Yeah! but I don't like chrome for anything else. BOO
So for now I'm doing the switching back and forth.

This photo is the one I have been trying to post since March.
This is of myself, husband, daughter and grandson at
Disneyland for his 4th birthday.
He covered his ears because we forgot his noise cancelling
headphones at home and anything loud he says makes his ears
hurt. It's part of his sensory issues with his Aspergers.
We had lots of fun and didn't want to go home but vacations have to end
or they wouldn't be vacations. LOL

Here he is getting his fall photos taken for his mommy for Christmas.
He sure is getting big.
Love this guy so much.

Okay now I'm off to take care of him as he has a nasty cold now.

Have a happy day,

Thankful

For all my friends and family.

I'm still unable to post photos no
matter what I try.
That is why no blog post from me for so long.
What fun is just reading about something
I like to look at photo's.
I've asked for help from a few people
but know one knows why I can't get
the pictures to load so I'm stuck
with no post and no photo's.

Sorry
Have a good Thanksgiving

just a ?

I've been reading lots of different quilt blogs and many of the ladies say they belong to a guild.

 What is a quilting guild?

 How do you find one?

 How do you join one?

Do  you have to be asked to join or sponsored?

Just a few questions that I don't know who to ask.

Good night everyone and have a good weekend.

home and back to Arizona

I've been home to Washington State and now back in Arizona. I'm finding that doing anything with a 4yr old takes longer than it would without.  I also realized that 6 weeks at home is not enough time to get everything done that I wanted to.  I was able to take a couple quilt classes while at home and I brought the projects with me to hopefully finish. I can't post any photos as my home computer was in the shop and blogger still won't let me from my lap top.  I was able to get some consignment work finished while at home but again not able to post photos.

Well here in Arizona the temp is a lot better than when I left now we can go out for walks in the morning hours and get some fresh air and my grandson is loving that.  Last week we went to the pumpkin patch and that was something so different from home we should have just purchased from the store and they have there's shipped in. My grandson even said "Nanny pumpkins grow on vine things not hay stacks". But he did get to ride on a tractor train so that made it better.

Well I hope to figure out the photo issue and post lots of them when I can.

Have a safe and productive day :)

still in Arizona

I'm still unable to post photos from my lap top, hopefully when I get home at the end of the month I can post.

Nothing much going on here except enjoying the pool with my grandson.  We did take in a movie the other day, there's a theater here that once a month has a special showing for kids on the Autism spectrum.  Parents don't have to worry about them making noise or wiggling around or getting up because every one has the same issues. We saw the new Disney Plane: fire rescue  movie, we all enjoyed it, much better than the first one.

Today is house cleaning day and my grandson loves to help so it takes much longer than it should, I let him do things that I may have to go back and redo while he is taking his nap but he is happy and learning. Right now he doesn't see it as a chore so why not get help while he is willing to give it.

Have a safe and happy week.

Long time

It's been a long time since I've blogged, sorry. My life has kind of been crazy for a while now. We did make it to Disneyland for my grandsons 4th birthday, but the trip wasn't quite what we had planned. The week before we were to leave my daughter (grandsons mom) fell down the stairs at her school and broke her ankle. Since we were driving to Disney we had to make a few changes but we made it and had a wheel chair waiting at our hotel when we arrived. We had a great time even if we did have to go a bit slower.

Then came daughter finishing up her internship and graduating.  She did it and I had no doubt that she would she has wanted to be a teacher for a long time. Then came the hunt for a job. She had a couple offers and she choose one in Arizona. We started the packing for the move while she did a web search to find a new apartment. Well the move went off with out a hitch. The two of them are now residents of AZ. I had planned on staying here until they were settled but we hit a big bump. The cost of day care for a child here is way beyond what she can afford on a teachers pay after figuring in the cost of everything else. So here I am taking care of my grandson 1400 miles from home, and here I will stay until the end of Aug when the two of us travel back home for 6 weeks. We will then fly back until Christmas and then I will go home for two weeks while they spend that time together then back I come. We will be doing the fly back and forth until the end of the school year. Then next year he will be in all day kindergarten so I will then be able to go home.

I did bring a spare sewing machine and notions with me but no fabric :(  . I haven't had time to find a quilt shop as we are limited to one car.  We do love having a pool that we can enjoy everyday except for the week after I got a nasty burn. My grandson told me it was because you forgot the sunscreen Nanny. So right and he is only 4.

I wanted to show some photos but for whatever reason I'm not able to on my laptop. So maybe next time I can share some Disney, pool and garden photos with you all.

more Mickey Mouse

I like using up scraps so I made a tote bag. I then realized I had
more scraps and so I made 4 shower bags and 1 first aid bag. Okay
so maybe I bought to much fabric for the quilt project but I wasn't
sure how much I would need as I got the idea while at the store and
didn't have my pattern with me so I winged it. LOL  I also finished
our water bottles too since that is why I was at the store to begin with
needed some letter stickers to go on the sides opposite our Disney
stickers. We have  Chip & Dale , Tinkerbell, Mickey in a train and
Cinderella Castle.

We are almost ready for our trip!

Mickey Mouse Quilt

I haven't been posting but I have been busy in the sewing room.
This is a Mickey Mouse quilt and the 3rd quilt I have started this year,
it's only the first one to be quilted and ready for binding. This one of
course has a dead line it's for my grandsons 4th birthday and we are
taking a trip to Disneyland.  I will be sewing binding on it this afternoon.

Have a great day!
