BOM craftsy.com

I spent the morning cutting and sewing these 4 - 6.5" blocks for the Craftsy.com BOM. I'm going to make the whole quilt top in red, black and white. These colors make me smile, I might have to add some hand needle work depending on what the rest looks like.

Off to get dinner ready before my DH goes to work and I pick the little one up from day care.

new starts

Okay I know I have a lot of UFO's but I just had to start these.
scrappy around the world block I had never seen it done this way so had to try it, this will go in my book of samples with some written directions so hopefully in the future I will remember how to do this one. (6) 2.5  strips sewn together into a tube then sub-cut into 2.5 strips and then sewn together again.

when finished this will go on a pre-finished pillow the words form a heart shape it's "Let's eat chocolate" by Ursula Michaels for Imaginating.

This Dresden plate is the first in a BOM that I joined at my local quilt shop, Paisley Duck. All I have left is stitching it down to the back ground fabric and I haven't decided how I want to do that yet.

this is some fabric I'm going to use in another BOM that I joined over the weekend on Craftsy.com. This will be a log cabin block when I get it finished later today.
Off to the sewing room as I only have half a day today, have my little sweetheart to play with later.

WIP's and UFO's

Here are my stitching WIP's and UFO that I will be working on this year.
French country stocking - JBW
I really like this one you can't tell but the fabric is a over dye and in person it's very pretty. I want to stitch the letter R in a different color just not sure what yet. This will be for me. :)

Gobble - Bent Creek
I've had this one for at least 3 years now.

Home of Brave - Black Bird Designs

Mother's Love - Hinzeit
for my daughter for mother's day

Wedding Bells - Joan Elliott for Design Works
for my mother and her new husband
not sure of the order for the names
bride then groom or groom then bride?

Snowy Christmas Quaker style - Aury TM
I was hoping to finish this for Christmas 2012 but I didn't make it I'm not fond of working with white for long periods of time.

Sampler - Wiehenburg
This has been a WIP and UFO for sometime, I did work on it some last year and I'm sure I will get it done this year and hang it in our computer room.

Letter J - Nora
for my daughter in law's birthday

Mystery stitch along - Pam Kellogg 2008- UFO
I was stitching this one for my mother, when she saw it it wasn't to her liking so I put it a side and haven't felt like working on it at all. I have now decided to finish it for myself as I think the little bird is adorable.

Here's my class project for my quilting class. I only have the 9 patch sewn, I have the piano key fabrics picked out just not cut yet. I'm worried I will make a mistake in cutting and there goes all that pretty fabric.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog.

view from the window...

these photos were taken last weekend from our hotel window. My DH and I took a long weekend to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. We had a great time watching the waves and the fog roll in. We spent some of our time checking out the antique stores and of course a couple quilt shops. We did spend part of Sunday in a bar and grill kind of place so that he could see the Seattle Seahawks win. All in all we had a great 3 days just doing what ever we wanted or nothing at all.

Today I have designated as organize the sewing room day. I'm going to take photos of all my WIP's both quilting and stitching. I will post them  later so I can see how far I've come in the next couple of months.

Thanks for taking the time to visit with me today.

Happy 2013

Not much going on here I came down with that darn old flu bug that seems to be going around. Today is the first time in 4 days that I have felt like getting out of bed.
I did finish this cute little robin bird cross stitch and I put it on a finished pillow. I hope to stitch some other cute things to change out as the seasons or mood strikes.
I realize now looking at the photo I should have stitched something a little larger oh well I like my little bird, he was the last thing I stitched on last year.
This year I want to get some UFO's finished, we will see how that goes.

Take care and have a lovely day,
Robin

stocking stuffers

I was playing with my little twister and made these cute little pot holders for the big kids for there Christmas stockings this year.  The green and blue for my daughter that loves owls. Grapes for my daughter-in-law who loves wine and the flames are for my son who loves to grill.
I sat and stitched the bindings on this morning so I can put them in the done pile and see what else needs to be added to the stocking pile and hopefully not have to go to town today.

Safe travels and Happy Holidays!

last ornament for 2012

This ornament is for my DH who loves motorcycles. The top item on his Christmas list every year is a Harley so this year he get Santa riding one.  LOL  Maybe someday he will get a real one, but they are so expensive. We looked at the Harley shop last weekend and the prices are crazy we could almost buy a second house. LOL

I feel pretty good this year I have all ornaments stitched and finished and its not even Christmas eve yet! I will have to remember my trick this year for next year start before Thanksgiving and they should get done. This year I only stitched 8 so that helped a lot too.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Counted Cross Stitch

This is my latest finish my daughters ornament. The chart is from JCS 2008. I like to look at the old issues when trying to figure out what I will stitch for each family member. When I saw this one this year I  just new it was for my daughter. I didn't use the buttons it called for as I didn't have them in my stash and I thought these little lights were just too cute.

I'm doing pretty good on getting things done as I'm stitching the last ornament for this year. It's for my DH I don't know why but I always seem to stitch his last. This year it will be finished to go with his from last year that I finished this year. Oh well he just gets 2 this time.

Have a good day everyone I'm off to quilt class today,

stitching

Finished and sent off another Round Robin yesterday. I don't know why this one took so long for me to get it stitched but it's done and on it's way to the next stitcher.
I also did a little finishing for me today. This is stitched over 1 on 28 ct this is the first thing I've stitched over 1 it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I used a little empty candle jar and some pink ribbon to finish it off.  The stitched area is only 1 1/2 inches tall.

Just have 2 more ornaments to get stitched and finished for this year I think I will make it.

Holiday Lane blog hop day 7

Hello and Welcome to day 7 my day of the Holiday Lane pillow blog hop.

I would like to thank everyone involved in making this a very fun blog hop.  The pattern was brought to us by Jill from Jillily Studio, please visit her and check out her other patterns. Pauline from Quilt N Queen who's are cheerleader and Madame Samm for her work in getting us organized.

This is only my second time in joining in on the fun and it won't be my last. The pattern was very easy to follow but while working on it I realized how large it was and decided to go with a wall hanging. In doing it as a hanging I was able to embellish a lot more than I could have if it was a pillow.

Here it is hanging above our TV.

Here is the right side and you can see that I used a pewter charm for the address on the house it's 2012.

My little snowman is all decked out for the cold weather in his polka dot hat and scarf.

This house my DH helped me with he felt it needed a window with candles.

Lots of decorations on the trees with garland too.

For the snow I used quilt batting. Not sure if you can tell but I quilted stars in the sky.
Thank you for looking and if you would like to see what others have done with this pattern please check out the others that I share my day with.

Today I finished stitching and finishing another ornament, this is from JCS 2008 ornament issue. Heartfelt Harvey by Imaginating Inc.  Only 2 more to stitch so I'm almost there.

I'm also working on a project for the  next blog hop that starts on Nov 21st. My day is Thursday the 29th. See my side bar its called Holiday Lane.

Christmas gift help

Today my DH and I were talking about Christmas as in what do I want. I can't really think of anything I need, so while uptown I stopped in at a quilt shop that just happens to sell sewing machines too. I talked with a  sales lady and she showed me several but the one I liked best and fit in our budget is the Baby Lock "Elizabeth". Here is where I need your help does anyone have this machine or have any thoughts on what might be a better machine? I would like to stay with a Baby lock as I have a Viking and DO NOT like it.

http://www.babylock.com/a-line/elizabeth/   this is the one I'm leaning toward telling DH that I would like to have.

I guess I should look into selling or trading in my Viking/Husqvarna Platinum 750

Thanks for any and all help.

I really had no clue what I was going to sew until I started going through my fabric, then I couldn't stop thinking of different ways to make these cute little coin purses, unfortunately I ran out of time.
This was my first purse with cute little cupcake for the sides I used a dark brown that looks like chocolate frosting the inside is cream with chocolate chips.
Next I made my zebra and orange I used the same orange on the inside on this one I added a cute little zebra stripe beads on the side.
This one was my third try and I thought I would add some beads to the center of the flowers and along the top of the clasp as I sewed it to the fabric, adds a bit of sparkle.
Here is #4 Jungle print with brown and gold beads along the top.
My husband added his 2 cents for this one with his favorite football team, I used a fabric with footballs on it for the inside.

This one is my favorite one with the snowman face on the front and some snowflakes on the back. I wanted it to look like a real snowball so I used quilt batting as the outside to give it a soft look.

Are you ready for my last one I call it "piggy bank" and I did use a different pattern with a bigger frame.

Thank you for looking and please visit the other blogs and see the many different and lovely coin purses for the UR Priceless blog hop.

better late than never

Here is my DH's 2011 ornament finished!!

As you can see it has a little charm on the back with the date. I found these at Shipwreck beads (they have a great website too) in Tacoma, WA last year. I made a trip up there earlier this year and bought some for this years ornaments as well.  I hope they will continue to carry them as it sure makes it easier than hand stitching the date.

Well I have more sewing to get finished for the blog hop and my day is Thursday. Hope I don't get called for Jury Duty on Wed or I won't get everything done.  :)    Off to the sewing room.
